Mi casa / flower base / 200 × 105 × 400

There are any number of beautiful vases. Some are luxury craft items, others have a more modern flare that expresses the ideas of their designers. I decided to take a different approach to design rather than just trying to create something that was visually beautiful.

The flowers in a vase heal and enrich our hearts. I wanted to build a place for them, a place to welcome them as new members of the family. The time we spend with our families is not all the same. Sometimes it is enjoyable, some may be difficult, and sometimes you just want to be left alone. Just as we must go to bed, the flowers also need their rest.

I began by building a simple, tall box to be their home. To respect their privacy, only the front panel was cut a little bit shorter. Then I added gentle curves to the walls on both sides so that the dwelling would be softer and easier on its occupants. At the back, I made a slit so that you could be faintly aware of their presence when viewing the vase from that angle. By trying to design a home that took account of the feelings of flowers, I ended up with an emotional form, a vase that feels as if you had just opened a present.
