One day I was looking through photographs of the interior of a house created by Luis Barragan, and I was arrested by a splendid, antique storage cabinet. It was a lovely piece of furniture, well-suited to the peaceful spaces that he created, but it seemed to me to be a bit lacking personality. I realized that this was due to the shape of the handles, and I wanted to design better handles more suitable to Barragan's spaces. There are two perspectives from which we become aware of the form of handles in the course of daily life. One is when we are gazing at them from afar; the other when we are touching them directly. My idea was a shape that would provide a beautiful relief that would be satisfying from either perspective.
