Soiree Petro / salt & pepper grinder / ∅50 × 320, ∅50 × 300

I love classical salt and pepper grinders, the long ones made out of wood. I feel friendly toward the relationship between humans and their tools including the gesture when we use them. There are lots of electrical products on the market that try to answer our contemporary demand for ease of use, but they are mostly cold objects without any inherent interest. I wanted to re-create this traditional item in a modern form while protecting the aspects of it that are threatened by new products and their insistence on convenience above all else. I began to draw simple but impressive silhouettes that maintained the overall scale and performance. These two towers, looking for all the world like architectural monuments, give a poetic lift to an otherwise dull kitchen.
