Mayim Mayim / fruit tray / ∅300 × 170
It goes without saying that our lives are built upon the sacrifices of other lives. This fruit tray was created as a stage on which to quietly celebrate the fruit that gives its life for us. The motif is extremely primitive and represents a holy rite. Long before the existence of God was made manifest in scripture and doctrine, our ancestors gathered around the objects of their faith. At times, they quietly pulled together, at times they danced uproariously, sharing their joys and fears, paying their respect, and offering their prayers. The pure souls of people during that time in prehistory when nature and humanity truly coexisted. That is something we have not lost. It is embedded deeply within our DNA, hidden at the bottom of our consciousness. This place for sacred ceremonies, sitting on a table, is a worthy location for the end of the short life of our fruit.
